My trip to Israel and the Czech Republic

This page was inspired by Aaron, who said,"You need to put more pictures on your page!" So I did. :)

Background: In 1997, I participated in a trip to Israel for Jewish youth in the Bay Area. About 80 16 year-olds spent 3 days in Prague, traveled through Italy, then took a boat to Israel, where we spent the remaining 5 weeks. It was probably one of the greatest experiences of my life...and I took pictures! The ones I have put together for this page I consider to be my best.

Prague: This was an *astrological* clock on the side of a larger clock. The clock faced the large square where we spent most of our time.

Prague: A HUGE cathedral. Gorgeous, but scary.

Prague: We visited a small Jewish graveyard outside of a memorial museum. Many of the headstones were shifted out of place from old age. Much of the damage was done because there was not enough room to bury everyone, so they piled the graves on top of each other.

Prague: The numbers of this clock are entirely in Hebrew.

Prague: Let me say, this picture did not scan very well. The real thing is much prettier. Oh yeah...this is the inside of the oldest synagogue in Prague.

Terezin, Czech Republic: This was an oven used at the concentration camp where prisoners were forced to pretend they were happy while the red cross visited. These ovens were not used in the same manner as in other concentration camps; in other words, the victims who were burned died of somewhat "natural" causes.

Prague: Point of view from the bridge that the king would walk upon to receive his coronation.

Prague: Another view from the square.

Prague: I found this statue a bit appalling...but beautiful nonetheless.

Israel: Tel Aviv: The memorial of Yitzhak Rabin in the square where he was shot.

Israel: I consider this to be the best picture I have ever taken. The sad part is, I can't remember where in Israel I took it.

Israel: Masada: A stunning view of the Dead Sea from the top of Masada.

Israel: Again, I can't remember where I took this. I believe it was Eilat. If that's true, then the body of water behind the rocks is the Red Sea.

To end this lovely picture collection right, here's what happens when you take TOO MANY pictures:
